The Association of Physiologists and Pharmacologists of India was founded by leading physiologists and pharmacologists of India in 1957. The Association was formed to:

• Promote the advancement of Physiology, Pharmacology and Allied Sciences of India.
• To arrange scientific meetings and group discussion amongst persons interested in above mentioned science in India.
• To help to standardize and raise the level of Teaching and Research in Physiology, Pharmacology, and allied sciences in India in Indian Universities and other Teaching and Research Institutions in India.

The Association of Physiologists and Pharmacologists of India is registered under Societies Registration Act, XXI of 1860. The Association was formally registered on 11th September, 1957.
